Description

So, I thought I'd throw something out there about what tools/frameworks we might for development. For example, for unit testing, I would like to offer up MbUnit? as our standard. Other thoughts?

Unit Testing - MbUnit IoC Container - Windsor MVC Framework - MonoRail? or ASP.NET MVC?

Maybe this stuff isn't all that crucial, but thought I'd start a discussion. Also, I wanted to try Trac.

What say you?

Glenn

Ugh, my list is messed up

* Unit Testing - MbUnit
* IoC Container - Windsor
* MVC Framework - MonoRail?? or ASP.NET MVC?

  • type changed from defect to task.

I'm all for mbunit and Windsor. I have not used MonoRail? or ASP.NET MVC, but in the interest of keeping this easy to use and understand for a wide audience, I'd lean for ASP.NET MVC (also gives me a reason to dig into that!)

Unit testing - I prefer the Rhino - know & use it for the last year. IoC container - didn't use the Windsor as a daily basic but I know that it has a good feedback. MVC - ASP.NET MVC

I've also adding my own remark: VS - please let the code on the source-control be a VS2008 type, because it always ask me for convertions (so we all be synchronized) - for example the TileServer?...

Thanks, Shani.

VS2008 again, I can't understnad why we use the "old" 2005 solution and not using the 2008. I think that this is the right time to convert all those solutions.

Let me know what you think about it, Shani.

I have no issue with converting them to VS2008. The only reason I did the REST initial stuff in 2005 is that CIFactory defaults to 2005 (or, at least, the version I was using does)

Does anyone have any issues with going all VS2008?

I'd prefer 2008 but we could consider maintaining side-by-side projects, one in 2005 and one in 2008. It's not as bad as it sounds because project files are (supposed to be) compatible between versions, it's just the solution files that aren't compatible.

Of course, if there's any 3.5 framework code in there, then it's 2008 all the way. Has the framework version been chosen yet?
