Add additional error checking and make gpu error checking the default option

Description

The additional error checking should include nan checks on particle positions in the neighbor list binning.

  • resolution set to fixed.

NaN error checks added in r1373 Decided not to go with error checking on by default, it slows performance too much. I will regret this decision, later probably.....
